Our team was called to a heartbreaking scene in a Township a few weeks ago, to a dog suffering from an extreme case of prolapse. This is caused by weakened supporting pelvic muscles resulting in pelvic organs like the uterus or bladder dropping from their normal position.
We rushed her to our vet, who performed emergency surgery to treat the condition.
Slowly but surely she began to recover and eventually made a full recovery.
Her story is not unique. Many animals in under-resourced communities suffer in silence, without access to basic veterinary care.
This case highlights the importance of our vital work, and the many lives we save.
The rescue of this poor dog became a reminder of the suffering some animals face, but also serves as a powerful testament of the kindness and compassion of our dedicated team.
